What are the EDT files that are managed by CabMD?

GONet is a service provided by the Government of Ontario for securely transmitting electronic files containing patient information and claims. The Ministry of Health makes this service available to physician providers and medical billing agents for billing transactions.

OHIP submissions may be sent, and claim error reports and remittance summaries received, via modem, by using this electronic service.

How do I apply for a GONet account?

CabMD is a great way to submit and manage your claims on a daily basis, automating the sending and receiving of EDT files to and from the Ministry of Health. To do this, Cab.MD requires an accessible GONet account for each corresponding Billing Agent or Care Provider.

Any provider or billing agent wishing to conduct billing through the Ministry of Health's GONet EDT service must first apply to the ministry for a GONet EDT user account. This holds true even when a provider bills through an agent who is already approved to use the system: the provider must still obtain a user account from the ministry for his/her billing to be accepted through the billing agent's CabMD account.

The process of applying for a GONet account is quite simple, as you have to fill out two forms (listed below):

and mail them to:

EDT Registration
P.O. Box 68
Kingston, ON K7L 5K1

Users must register with the Ministry of Health in order for CabMD to automate use of the EDT service on your behalf, and the ministry will provide a username and password once the application has been approved (normally 2 to 4 weeks).

What EDT files are managed by CabMD?

To being using CabMD, you'll need to have a valid Ministry of Health GONet account. GONet is a modem based system that the Ministry of Health uses to enable users to submit EDT files, and receive any feedback.

The following are examples of the types of files that are uploaded or downloaded from your GONet account automatically:

Uploaded Files:
Health Reconciliation File (A list of claims being submitted by a user, including premiums)

Downloaded Files:
Batch File (When CabMD submits claims, the MOH sends back a confirmation that they were received)
Rejection File (Lists the rejected claims from a batch, explaining why each claim was rejected)
Remittance File (Lists the paid claims from a batch, explaining any differences in amounts paid)
Error File (Some files are not correctly formatted, if they are - they are completely rejected)

CabMD automatically connects to GONet on your behalf, and uploads any submitted claims that you may submit through the Cab.MD user interface, and then automatically downloads any existing files in their system and processes them for easy use by the user. This means that you won't have to own a modem, or have any connection to the Ministry of Health - we do it all for you!

Also, when claims get rejected - we highlight and tell you in English exactly why the Ministry of Health did not accept the claim, allowing you to easily correct the claim and resubmit.
